Ecumen’s Mission

Ecumen advocates for older adults, providing housing choices, compassionate healthcare, and innovative services to support connected, fulfilled lives.

Our Vision

Every older adult has a home with innovative services to live the life they choose.

Our Core Values

Honor: We treat people with dignity and respect.

Serve: We put people at the heart of what we do.

Innovate: We find new ways to exceed people’s expectations.

Empower: We encourage people to dream and take action.

What We Do

Ecumen operates a variety of senior housing options and services, including cooperative senior housing, independent living, assisted living, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation care, home care and hospice. In addition to our consumer services, we provide senior housing development, clinical consulting and senior housing management services for organizations outside of Ecumen.

Leadership

Ecumen is a 501(c)(3) organization that is led by a board of trustees.
Trustees are elected by the Members Assembly, which are representatives of each of the six Minnesota synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). Ecumen does not receive financial support from the ELCA. Its revenue is generated through operations and fundraising.
Shelley Kendrick was appointed Ecumen’s president and chief executive officer in 2019.

Annual Revenues and Operations

2019 revenues were $147.9 million. Ecumen currently operates in Minnesota, Idaho, North Dakota and Wisconsin. For further details about our financials, please contact us.
