We want to share one special story of how your gifts have an impact:
Matthew, an Ecumen Resident Assistant and student at a local community college, discovered his passion for nursing when he provided care for, and lived with his grandmother for six years.
As an Ecumen employee, Matthew had the opportunity to apply for a donor-funded educational scholarship to help make his college dreams come true. He received the financial support he needed and is advancing his career within Ecumen while attending college.
Matthew’s passion for caregiving naturally transcends to his nursing work with older adults at Ecumen. “Working with seniors, helping them with their needs and spending time in conversation with them gives me the same joy I had taking care of my grandmother.” This intrinsic motivation gives him the determination to do his best to serve all residents and family members.
Matthew’s coursework, paired with hands-on experience at Ecumen, ensures deeper understanding of the aging process, and equips him to provide the highest quality of care while also spreading joy to residents. He believes lending a hand and ensuring seniors receive the best possible care is a blessing in itself. The smiles he creates for others fuels his passion for lifelong learning and serving older adults.
